What are you looking for in a Studio?

As a filmmaker and photographer, I am looking for a space that will nurture my creative endeavors. I typically spend a lot of time, making films or photos, editing films or photos, creating pitch decks for commercial or personal work, etc. I am looking for a space, outside of my home, with plenty of natural light, to get creative, without any distractions.

Describe yourself and your artwork

My interests as a filmmaker are tied directly to my fascination with people and the power of their personal narratives. The stories I’m most interested in are intimate, character-driven portraits of people, often split between two worlds, dealing with the choices and circumstances of their lives. The work I set out to create exists at the intersection of narrative filmmaking and non-fiction storytelling. An approach exemplified in my documentary and commercial work, and most recently in “The Both of Me,” which was recently shortlisted at the 2021 Young Director Awards in Cannes and had its festival premiere at the Mountainfilm Festival in Telluride, Colorado. I am most interested in making films that will push the documentary genre forward by implementing narrative techniques more typically found in fictional filmmaking, where an audience can suspend their disbelief while still finding empathy in the underlying human story.

What skills, talents, and passions would you like to share?

I’d like to push others to do their best work. I’m always up for creative collaboration and find a lot of joy in seeing others succeed at their art. It pushes me to do the same.

What are you looking for in a Studio?

I can work with 150 square feet. Looking to construct a miniature soundstage for an episodic series, where I can craft props, wardrobe and set elements for a world build encapsulating 6″ characters. I am also looking to bond with an artistic community. I have been trapped in suburbia trying to be a full time artist. I long to be surrounded by those inspired by their passion. Truly. I have longed for this most of my adult life.

Describe yourself and your artwork

I have been described as, earnest. I see the potential in all people, almost, irresponsibly. I am a late bloomer still wondering why I had to grow up. Now more than ever, the escape to my imagination through my art is my child like preserve. I am a former Marine who believes in peace. I am a team player and continually practice the art of placing myself in the shoes of those who see differently than I do.

I am a filmmaker, illustrator, screenwriter, director, actor for screen and stage, editor and have done my share of crafting and set design.

What skills, talents, and passions would you like to share?

30 years Interior painting experience. Spacial organizational skills. Assistant production Manager for an entertainment company. Could provide sound for any gatherings that may take place. DJ and Emcee.

What are you looking for in a Studio?

Smaller studio with wall for my paintings. Access to water, but does not need to be in my studio. Approximately $200 or less per month, is what I’m thinking, and approximately 10 x 15’ or more is ideal but will consider whatever is available. Flexible!

Describe yourself and your artwork

Energetic artist who does large and small impressionistic/expressionistic paintings. Colorful & confident as an artist. MFA from SFAI, undergrad studies at Davis. and DVC. Love working in a community of artists.

What skills, talents, and passions would you like to share?

I’ve curated and hung numerous exhibitions. I offer positive thinking and out of the box solutions that are intended to enhance the community of artists. I love people, especially creatives. Also experience in some aspects of filmmaking & social media.

Artist statement:( could not submit below)

Art is expressing emotion…

Artists are in touch with undercurrent sentiments before they surface. We all experiences various feelings. My job as an artist is to convey emotions through paint on canvas. I use expressive, impressionistic images in an array of colorful palates. Even in my paintings that appear more negative, there is a ray of light that gives one hope. Hope for this planet and its inhabitants to coexist in an earthly paradise. Could it be that this artist is aware of the undercurrent of a paradise on earth that is now manifesting in its embryonic stage? I love the song Imagine by John Lennon. One verse states, “You may say that I’m a dreamer  but I’m not the only one. I hope someday you’ll join us and the world will be as one.”

What are you looking for in a Studio?

I am flexible about many of these things! But if I can be allowed to be a dreamer for a minute ;-)…
my perfect space would be ….
An individual space; a door that closes; some natural light, nearby access to water; available space on an exterior wall/in a common area to hang a few pieces of finished work; and an active, diverse artist community to connect and show work with.
I currently work from my home in a

Describe yourself and your artwork

The visual arts are relatively new to me (3 years or so), and I am still exploring!
I am primarily a mixed media artist.
In 2018/2019 I participated in 4 shows, showing multiple pieces in each, using the mediums of collage, watercolor, mixed media/collage, and book arts (I was one of the artists participating in the MIAS Book Arts Show!)

My historical background as an artist is primarily rooted in dance and fiber art, however. I currently teach dance, co-direct my own dance ensemble. I choreograph for myself and others, and also perform (with my own troupe, as well as with another company). I am also a fiber artist (knitting, spinning wool, weaving, and felting), and I teach on a volunteer basis in our community.

I am unable to submit photos of my work along with this application, but I am happy to submit them in a separate email. Please let me know where I might forward them, and I will gladly send them along. Thank you!

What skills, talents, and passions would you like to share?

I have a lot of skill with events and would love to be of help with receptions/openings/events. I am a trained chef and former caterer 😉 I can also help with advertising events (distributing/posting flyers), as well as social media.

During the MIAS Book Arts show, I assisted with securing the securing the permits, and preparing for the opening….glad to do anything that needs to be done!

What are you looking for in a Studio?

My ideal space would be 500 square feet with a decent sized entrance, 220 volt outlet for my cooler, natural light and one brick wall. That being said I’ve designed from my single garage and basement before so I can work with almost anything.

Describe yourself and your artwork

I’m a floral artist. I help others express themselves with botanicals in every color and shape available. Empathy is a huge part of my art work/life as I design for people who are starting a new life together and families who are saying goodbye to a loved one. Muir Woods is one of my favorite local places to simultaneously recharge and get inspired.

What skills, talents, and passions would you like to share?

I love the way the Artist’s Collective showcases together. Walking through the different spaces today, I envisioned some of my bigger installation pieces next to other’s art and felt they would look right at home. My favorite floral design style is Ikebana and that would work particularly well with the ceramics displayed.

What are you looking for in a Studio?

A place to fit an easel, small table and chair for canvas painting. Access to a sink. Decent lighting or the opportunity to add lamps. Natural light would of course be great, but I can handle painting by lights. Maybe 70 sq ft. or so.

Mostly I’m looking for the comradery of other artists. I like the sharing of artistic energy between disciplines and styles. I feel more creative when around other creatives.

Describe yourself and your artwork

I’m self taught, but was trained as a graphic designer. I’ve been a coordinator and volunteer for Vallejo Open Studios since 2010. I mostly paint with acrylics on canvas, but I also love pen and ink on paper.

What skills, talents, and passions would you like to share?

Depending on the audience, it would vary, but I would welcome the opportunity to share with the community. I did teach graphic design part time to middle school students for a couple of years, but that’s tough to do without computers, etc. But I could help out in a workshop for painting or pen and ink. Pen and ink could be fun with kids. I could teach them different methods of shading such as pointilism, or cross hatching. I also do color pencil, which can be easier in terms of providing materials.

What are you looking for in a Studio?

I’m currently working in a space that’s about 150 square feet. It’s tight, but I’m managing. More would be nice. I’d prefer a room with as little natural light as possible since I work with fabric, and even indirect sunlight can make it fade over time. A small window is okay. Good artificial lighting is a must, though. I’d prefer white/ivory/light beige walls and ceiling.

Describe yourself and your artwork

I’m a Fabric Artist who specializes in Art Quilts, anywhere from one square foot to 50 square feet in size. I use primarily African fabrics in my larger quilts, but Japanese and South Sea batiks are freely explored. I also do mixed media, usually with a fabric base. Most of my work is very colorful… I consider Red a Neutral, and Subtle a curse word. Some of my work is tongue-in-cheek religious, lots of Virgin of Guadalupe and other saints. Frida Kahlo is a big favorite.

What skills, talents, and passions would you like to share?

I’m laid back, funny, a little crazy, always in a good mood, and smile a lot. At 77, I’d probably be the senior member of the group. I’m a professional musician and am always up to a little improv piano. I’m an excellent cook and my chocolate chip cookies are always available. Guacamole and Hummus are my other top specialties. I’m not up to much physical labor like painting and building, but I’m good friends with a vacuum, and excel at cleaning up a kitchen.

I’m a working artist living in Vallejo, I have shown in Minneapolis, Portland OR, Brooklyn NY, and in Oakland. I would like to share my work with my community in Vallejo. Describe yourself and your artwork

I’m an illustration artist currently living in Vallejo. I was classically trained in illustration at Pacific Northwestern College of Art and have showed my work in the communities that I reside in around the country. I would like to show my coffee, tea, and ink works. I would also like to show some of my mixed media illustration work.

What skills, talents, and passions would you like to share?

I would like to share my talents as a classical illustrator.

What are you looking for in a Studio?

I’m pretty flexible, but prefer 150+ square feet, with a good amount of wall space and good light, with a sink available nearby. I can work in a private/semi-private or communal space.

Describe yourself and your artwork

I am a mixed media artist, working mostly in relief wall sculptures. I use a lot of different materials, including wood, resin, clay, craft materials, and paint. I only use non-toxic materials and water-based paint. I am an elementary art teacher. I am from the Bay Area and am returning home after living for 12 years in NYC. I’m looking for a studio space, as well as a community I can actively participate in. I have family and good friends in the Bay, but no artist community yet.

What skills, talents, and passions would you like to share?

I am a teacher, so can lead workshops and classes for any age- from young children to adults. I also have experience curating and installing exhibitions ( I have been curating shows independently for over 10 years, and also spent several years working for contemporary art galleries in NYC). I focus on curating exhibitions that highlight the work of women and artists of color, and combine a range of media including drawing, painting, video/new media, installation, sculpture, and performance.

What are you looking for in a Studio?

I am looking for community, opportunity, collaboration, and interaction with other artists. Physically, I am looking for a space with light, water, ample space to work, and one which has heat and AC. A bathroom also. Wall space. Windows. The bigger, the better.

Describe yourself and your artwork

Me: I’m quiet and introverted but not unfriendly. I’m not young, but not old either. I’ve been making art all my life––it’s been a bit of a journey–now I’m an acrylic painter/mixed media artist. I am currently painting/creating abstract figures/florals.

What skills, talents, and passions would you like to share?

There are a couple of areas where I feel my art needs to have meaning. It needs to either speak to a social or cultural issue, or it must highlight some aspect of the human condition. I am also a writer and I’d be happy to share what I know with the community.

I love to get involved and I don’t mind work. I am good at seeing the big picture when there’s a problem or issue that needs addressing. I see solutions easily and I have no problem talking to city officials about permits and other red tape necessities. I am passionate about bringing art into the community. I was a public school teacher (English) for many years and have watched the art programs disappear from school curriculum. It’s distressing.

What are you looking for in a Studio?

I am looking for a studio space that is somewhat private yet communal-I love working around people and engaging in meaningful discussion about work. I create somewhat large scale sculpture at times, so it would be great to have a larger space. I also work in video, painting, and writing.

Describe yourself and your artwork

I am collaborative, communicative, and thrive in community spaces. My work is heavily researched-based and looks a lot at the role that media plays in shaping culture. I create sculptures, videos, paintings, performance, writing, and photos. At times my work can be explicit, so I am looking for space that feels comfortable with that. See website above!

What skills, talents, and passions would you like to share?

Many! I am comfortable with a lot of different artistic processes including, photography, woodworking, welding, bookmaking, video production, and more.

What skills, talents, and passions would you like to share?

What are you looking for in a Studio?

I visited your studio recently and loved it! I met Sherry Tobin and Jose Martinez visiting the space yesterday (Saturday). Both were lovely and shared how much the space meant to them and how they loved the community. It so reminded me of the art community I enjoyed in my art school days. I loved the inspiration I draw from a community of artists. I’m looking for an inspiring place like Coal Shed to draw and illustrate. I definitely need natural light. The brighter the better. I loved the space that Jose created and would like to create something similar in size. I know he custom built his space and I would do the same if permitted.

Describe yourself and your artwork

Currently I am a full time graphic designer for a non profit organization called the Enneagram Prison Project (www.enneagramprisonproject.org) located in Los Gatos. I currently live in Vallejo and work from a small home office. I got involved with the organization last year because of my work with the Enneagram over the past 10 years in Cincinnati OH. (N-1Games.com) I’m a character artist who loves figure drawing. I’m a fantasy artist/illustrator creating conscious books and games for young adults. My mission is to raise self-awareness and consciousness through education, entertainment and technology. I have a bachelors degree in multi-media and a Masters Degree in Education. (Curriculum & Instructional Design) I use all of my education to write, and illustrate various archetypes of personality that personify virtues and vices. Through my art I intend to highlight the complex attributes of dark and light that exist within all of us. I primarily work large scale pencil and ink drawings. See attached.

What skills, talents, and passions would you like to share?

I would first share me. I’m a kind, sensitive person who loves to make meaningful connections with others. I am inspired by other artists and I believe I inspire also. I’m a natural decorator, and have excellent visual spacial skills. ( I know how to put a room together) I would like to create an inspiring space and support others sharing creative ideas on how to utilize their spaces also. I’m happy to volunteer time to the community in hosting events, cleaning, organizing and decorating. I would love to join your community 🙂 If you would like to know more please do not hesitate to call or email. Many thanks. Robin

What are you looking for in a Studio?

Since getting married two years ago I have no space to work. I was painting in my garage and writing in an office in my home but now there’s no silence (meaning being interrupted whenever) and no room.

Describe yourself and your artwork

I’ve been writing poetry for 45 years. I’ve been published in at least a hundred literary journals. I’ve done many poetry readings, lectures about collaboration in art at universities and art galleries around the United States. I’ve also been published in England, Belgium, and Georgia (the country). I was Manuel Neri’s primary model from 1972 until he retired about four years ago. We have three limited edition books in print comprised of my poetry and his paintings and etchings, a show was given for those books at the museum, The Legion of Honor, and they purchased each book. The second book, Territory, was purchased by the New York Museum of Modern Art. I began painting about twenty years ago and have recently been exhibited in a show in San Francisco and am donating a painting for the auction for the creative writing department at Saint Mary’s College, in two weeks. I have a BA and MA from San Francisco State in Creative Writing. I taught Creative Writing there for two years after graduating. I went back to school at USF and obtained a Master’s Degree in Counseling Psychology and have been a psychotherapist in private practice for over 30 years, now doing strictly telehealth.

What skills, talents, and passions would you like to share?

I would like to part of the artistic community in Vallejo. I was born and raised here, then moved to Benicia for over thirty years and in 2013 moved back to Vallejo. I am willing to offer poetry workshops and to organize poetry readings. I would like to attend and participate in the art functions in Vallejo. I want to be part of the Renaissance of the city I love. I would also like a lot of alone time to work. I don’t want to become so involved in activities that I don’t have time to write and paint. But I think I can do some. I’d also like to get to know other artists and poets and join in if there are ever any gatherings where poets and artists gather and talk about art and poetry. I think I would be a valuable addition to Vallejo’s art community because it needs to grow and Mare Island can be the next North Beach, beat era, art movement. A friend and I established the Benicia Writer’s Guild many years ago where poets met once a month for sharing poetry and critiquing. We also held poetry readings for the public. One time one of the Mare Island Ferry Boats took a boatload of us to hear Francis Mayes, author of Under the Tuscan Sun, and Quinton Duval, author of Like Hay.

What are you looking for in a Studio?

a small space where I can do some soldering and other metal work for jewelry making. I won’t need the space for another 7-9 months (when I am retired from my current job), but glad I am getting on the waiting list now. Maybe something will become available when I am ready! Not sure exactly how space rentals work, but am willing to share space too if that works for someone else. tx–alice

Describe yourself and your artwork

I am currently working full-time (in public health–HIV) but will be retiring in the next 6-9 months. I have been making jewelry for the past 10 years and selling at Art and Wine festivals throughout the Bay area (using semiprecious stones, freshwater pearls, Czech glass and mixing with silver and gold). I have been successful but want to enter a new phase of metal work and do embossing, etching and stone and metal work combinations. this requires studio space for metal cutting, soldering and using a rolling press. I am flexible as I said and am open to sharing space if that helps someone with rent.

What skills, talents, and passions would you like to share?

Any of the above, but I have been a creative person since I was a child. My parents owned a fabric and yarn store so I grew up sewing, crocheting and knitting, tie-dying and doing batik. My creative passion for the last decade (as mentioned above) has been making earrings and necklaces using a combination of materials. Because I have also worked full-time, I haven’t had as much time as I would like to expand my creative outlet beyond my current skills but am looking forward to doing so and sharing with others in the near future! Below are samples of my current work.

What are you looking for in a Studio?

A shared place which will allow me to create and make my line of ceramics. I need just a corner for a potter’s wheel, potentially a kiln, which I don’t have yet. Natural lighting is not a must have but nice to have. I do prefer participating in annual shows to sell my ceramic line eventually.

Describe yourself and your artwork

Here is a little about myself, I grew up on the Island of Föhr in the very northern part of Germany.

The warm climate and collage brought me to California years ago. I have lived both in Northern and Southern California but I now reside here in town.

I first came in contact with clay during my junior high-school year.
The desire to start working with clay again grew stronger over the past few years and the continuing appreciation for the visual arts is what led me in the latter part of 2017 to look for a local studio to take a class to learn more and explore the world of ceramics again. My love and appreciation working with clay will hopefully one day become a part time business. At the moment I am still exploring.

Over the years I worked for various big corporations of which 13 years were spend at distributors and an installer in the Security/Alarm industry. Ultimately, with a stressful job and very little time for anything else I made the jump to look for other work and for the the past six years I have been working for a small law firm in Walnut Creek, which I very much enjoy.

Besides creating ceramics, my other passions are photography, horses, the Theraphosidae family, cats, Latin/American ballroom dancing, music, movies and good literature, in addition my limited time is devoted to projects like painting/upgrades around the house; and completing my website. I love spending time with my fiancé Matt, who is a is a sculpture artist at the Coal Shed Studio, and our mean loving cat Kato.

Having only recently come back to ceramics my work currently includes functional ware but I am exploring to make decorative ceramic in the future and explore other shapes and forms. Mid Century Modern designs as well as abstract will be my focus in this medium, as I believe the possibilities are endless when decorating a ceramic piece.

What skills, talents, and passions would you like to share?

I am handy and can help with any fixing, remodeling, painting or decorating ideas, just don’t make me sing! My main passion is throwing and hand building ceramics, in addition I also love photography.

Having a studio setting space to create my ceramic art is essential to me; it will provide inspiration and creativity. I prefer the setting of a studio that provides camaraderie like the Coal Shed has for many years, as well as some involvement in the art community.

Cheers 🙂

Lony

What are you looking for in a Studio?

Abundant, natural light is preferable. I need about 500 square feet of space, and ceilings taller than 8 feet would be great.

Describe yourself and your artwork

I am a dedicated painter looking to relocate by studio from Healdsburg to a space closer to the East Bay.

My paintings depict complex environments where reality and unreality converge. I work on panel, canvas, and paper, where I combine painting and drawing media to create intricate, painterly surfaces where I juxtapose thick paint, textured washes, and delicate graphite drawing. My subject matter revolves around evocative, melancholic landscapes and enigmatic, figurative imagery. My treatment of scale is deliberately arbitrary and non-perspectival, and often alludes to different time zones or planes of existence. Some recurring themes are: the technological sublime, humanity’s efforts at figuring out how to be human, doubt, and moments of surrealism in the everyday.

What skills, talents, and passions would you like to share?

I am good at painting walls, and am a talented floor-sweeper. I can come up with great ideas for exhibitions too. While attending Cuesta College I was a gallery assistant, where I learned how to install artwork, put together exhibitions, build models, etc. If you need someone to write press releases or other material, I can write decently. I also have a business license…

NOTE: I am having trouble uploading images and a resume. Please visit my website to see my artwork and a relevant resume: www.nicoleireneanderson.com

What are you looking for in a Studio?

Approx 500 sq ft, more or less., will consider whatever is available!!! I’m a painter , so prefer some natural light. Access to water as I work in acrylic

Describe yourself and your artwork

I can be extremely prolific. Are use acrylic paint and mixed media on both paper and canvas and would like to get back into doing larger works, approximately 3 or 4’ x 5 or 6 feet. I’ve studied at UC Davis and have an MFA from the San Francisco Art Institute. I’ve also shown in New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco and have gotten to grants from Pollock-Krasner foundation. The best way to describe might work would be a cross between impressionism in expressionism. Everything from still lives to figurative works., In bold colors.

I feel that artist to inspire and uplift. One collector described might work in New York as a breath of fresh air in a dirty old city.

Thank you!

Maggie
Please note: I am having trouble uploading photos from my iPhone but will try again later on my laptop. Thank you

What skills, talents, and passions would you like to share?

In the past I have helped curate shows, hang exhibits, scrub gallery floors whatever is needed to help out cooperative galleries.

I could also help out with social media , gallery sitting, and so forth.

What are you looking for in a Studio?

I am looking for a modest space; 10×10′ is the smallest that would accommodate my work table and shelves, but it would be ideal if the space is larger. I would also share studio space with another member if some clay dust is not a problem. Natural light would be fantastic as I have been working in a space without it. I also prefer a ground floor space as I need to carry bags of clay and finished objects. I can manage some steps, say up to 10 or 12. (I presently have 34 steps to climb and this has become a real nuisance!)

Describe yourself and your artwork

I hand build small ceramic sculptures. My primary interest is the abstract human figure. However, I have also become interested recently in making containers for Japanese flower arrangements. I expect that I will explore other shapes and forms as time goes on since clay presents limitless possibilities. I am currently enrolled in studying ceramic sculpture at Solano Community College. Before discovering the world of clay, I made found object assemblage both freestanding and wall mounted. I sometimes incorporate found objects with clay. I have also done collage, weaving, and doll making.

What skills, talents, and passions would you like to share?

I have extensive background in organizational development, having developed many programs in my work life. I have served on many boards and committees of non-profits, the most recent was Arts Benicia where I served for as a board member and chair. I was also on the steering committee for a special year long project for the city of Benicia Art and Culture Commission that coordinated the collection of data to demonstrate the contribution that the arts makes to the local economy.
I am also a member of a new cooperative gallery in Benicia and have been responsible for developing policies and procedures, as well as coordinating the docent sign up schedule. Additionally, I have developed a training curriculum for the members in how to promote gallery art sales. I am also good with tools.

I have a longstanding interest in community and community building. While I expect that there is already a cohesive community at the Coalsheds due to its physical layout and history, there may be ways in which I can participate to further this.

NOTE: I AM UNABLE TO DOWNLOAD IMAGES. I WILL SEND THEM AS ATTACHMENTS IN AN EMAIL TO ERIN.

What are you looking for in a Studio?

Around 100-150 square feet of space, with adequate wall space to hang work. Some natural light would be nice, but not necessary.

Describe yourself and your artwork

I am a born-and-raised bay area artist. In addition to working as a visual arts instructor at both Napa College and Solano College, I have my own professional practice making and exhibiting my work. I am interested in multiple mediums and consequently my work is primarily mixed media: Drawing, painting, collage, spray paint, printmaking.

The physical layering of materials is a metaphor for memory and experience, creating a space that is more psychological than based in reality; a space for my personal iconography to exist and narrative to unfold. I intend to break from the traditional formula of linear narrative, such as in the comic books that I appropriate, to a non-linear narrative where the possibilities are complex and varied. I make both small scale intimate work, and large scale installations.

I am easy-going, laid back, and get along with most anyone. I’m looking forward to the possibility of expanding beyond my garage and becoming a part of a larger community of artists.

What skills, talents, and passions would you like to share?

As an instructor at both Napa Community College and Solano Community College, I share my passion for art education with the community.

I’m looking for a safe, respectful space, with the opportunity to show work, collaborate, and support other artists. I enjoy group and solo shows, I enjoy hanging shows, and working with others on projects. I like being part of a community of artists.

Describe yourself and your artwork

I’m currently working on a body of work that has moved off of my usual 2-d surface. As an artist I’m not afraid work with new materials, and bring a conceptual piece off the canvas.

My courage to respond to social issues in an artistic way.
My willingness to share what I have learned with others.
I am comfortable with social media,

What are you looking for in a Studio?

Ideally, about 300 square feet with a door, with natural light, easy access to sink.

Describe yourself and your artwork

I’m so grateful for having had the opportunity to rent a space at the Coal Sheds during these months. It has truly given me freedom to go even deeper into my art and connect more with the community. I love the hours I spend there!
As you all probably already know, I do sculptures and paintings mostly. My work is personal and it has a cause. By sharing my own experiences through my art, it’s meant to empower, intrigue and encourage others who are trying to overcome personal challenges, going through a transformational process or hiding behind their own “disabilities. I mostly explore the aspect of living as a person with an invisible disability such as hearing loss.

What skills, talents, and passions would you like to share?

Aside from any of my artistic skills, I’m also a photographer and a web/print designer. I’d be happy to help out in any area that my talents could fit.

What are you looking for in a Studio?

I’m looking for one of my pieces of art to be displayed in the studio! I was told by someone that this is a great spot to show my work if I’m trying to sell my pieces.

Describe yourself and your artwork

I am a shy person but once you get to know me I’ll open up more and be less awkward. My artworks are mostly depictions of myself or mental illness. That or random characters of shows.

What skills, talents, and passions would you like to share?

I would say my ceramics pieces, I like how they all turn out and I think the community would like to see them as well.

What are you looking for in a Studio?

I am a painter and work with object making and video as well. I am looking to be able to work on large scale paintings, and test relatively large scale projections. I hope you don’t mind that I haven’t uploaded images, because a lot of my work is online
I have more than one url, so if it’s any help here is more

Describe yourself and your artwork

I am a classically trained artist and an architect by my first profession. Over the years and by following my both professional and academic pursuits, I evolved into a conceptual cross-media multi-disciplinary, and a curator. I do digital and graphic design for living, develop my curatorial projects and do my own art as a labor of love, and feel blessed when my colleagues and the public enjoys what I do. I exhibit internationally, and sell occasionally.

What skills, talents, and passions would you like to share?

After many years out of California (living in the Old and New England for a while), I moved to Vallejo because I believe it’s an amazing environment full of wonderfully creativity people, and opportunities of collaboration and development in the field of art. Vallejo with its particular history and a current story unfolding presents so many possibilities for exciting art community projects.

My dream is to develop and establish an ongoing international art residence in Vallejo, and to raise Vallejo’s status as a part of an international art scene, the scene that fosters authentic creativity and celebrates art, which I, after Joseph Boyce, I also believe to be “a science of freedom”. I am currently working on the first event of “Vallejo in Motions, in 1001 Movements” that will be a multimedia art show dedicated entirely to Vallejo. I truly hope to be accepted and become a productive part of the thriving local art scene.

What are you looking for in a Studio?

I have thought long and hard about what my studio needs are. For the past four years I have been working from my home studio, which has been carved out of a portion of my living room. It has worked adequately, until a couple of years ago when I realized I needed much more room…and privacy.
What I want in a studio is the following;
A separate place to go to work, not in my home. Natural light, windows if possible, and quiet. Able to be heated. Walls and a door are important for that.

Describe yourself and your artwork

I am a retired High School teacher, who learned to be an artist by teaching art to reluctant teenagers. My artistic focus and medium changed from portraiture and oils to cars and colored pencils. This shifted everything for me. Whereas before, I didn’t “see” or care about vintage/classic cars, I rapidly became obsessed with everything related to them. And I became a car geek.
My business name, “The Art of the Automobile”, speaks to how I view the classic cars of the past; they are living sculptures, they feature all the elements and principles of art.
My art features photo realistic portraits of cars, created with colored pencils. I use mixed mediums at times to enhance the art. I have worked in all sizes and with a variety of papers to see which give the best results. I have large scale art planned (24 x 36 and bigger), and need a studio to accomplish that.

What skills, talents, and passions would you like to share?

I am an excellent planner, organizer and problem solver. I am also good at creating marketing/visual displays. I can teach anyone who’s interested how I draw chrome. (The most asked question I get).
I am a team player, I like people and get along with most everyone, and am positive and a happy person. No drama, no crazy.
