Warm greetings from Artiszen Vallejo and Mare Island Art Studios!
We are proud to present the 3rd Annual Art of Community Festival, a month-long celebration of creativity, culture, and community taking place throughout August on the historic Mare Island waterfront.
What began as a grassroots community art exhibition has grown into a dynamic festival that brings together artists, youth creatives, makers, cultural organizations, and community members in a shared celebration of the people and ideas that make Vallejo unique.
This year, we are especially excited to welcome acclaimed Bay Area artist Diana Krevsky as our featured Legacy Artist. We are also honored to collaborate with Vallejo Teaching Artists (VTA) and curator James Orlando, whose partnership helps strengthen our commitment to supporting emerging artists and fostering meaningful community engagement through the arts.
Together, these collaborations reflect the heart of the Art of Community Festival: creating opportunities for artists of all ages and backgrounds to connect, share their work, and inspire one another.
Featured Exhibition
Diana Krevsky: Legacy in Color
The 2026 Art of Community Festival proudly presents “Legacy in Color,” a solo exhibition celebrating the work of Bay Area artist Diana Krevsky.
Using a variety of media and materials, combined with a playful sense of irony, Krevsky’s work often explores the conflict between cultural values and individual identity within both political and natural landscapes. Her paintings and sculptures are at once colorful, whimsical, thought-provoking, and deeply personal.
A longtime Bay Area artist, Krevsky currently works from her studio at Hunters Point Shipyard in San Francisco. Over the course of her career, her paintings and sculptures have been exhibited in numerous galleries and exhibitions throughout the San Francisco Bay Area.
Spanning works from the 1970s to the present day, Legacy in Color offers visitors a rare opportunity to experience the breadth of Krevsky’s artistic journey and the evolution of a distinctive creative voice that has contributed significantly to the region’s cultural landscape.
Visitors can meet the artist during the festival’s Opening Reception and Artist Talk on August 8.

Presented in partnership with Vallejo Teaching Artists and curated by James Orlando, the Vallejo Youth Artists “Under 21” Exhibition & Poetry Showcase celebrates the creativity, imagination, and perspectives of emerging young artists from across our community.
This special exhibition provides a platform for youth voices while creating opportunities for mentorship, visibility, and artistic growth. Through visual art and spoken word, participating artists explore themes of identity, community, resilience, and creative expression.
The exhibition reflects the festival’s commitment to nurturing the next generation of artists and ensuring that young people remain an essential part of Vallejo’s cultural future.

New for 2026:
Mare Island Art • Fashion • Vintage Bazaar
One of the most exciting additions to this year’s festival is the launch of the Mare Island Art • Fashion • Vintage Bazaar, a vibrant waterfront marketplace celebrating creativity in all its forms.
The Bazaar brings together:
• Original artwork and handmade goods
• Local artists and makers
• Curated fashion and wearable art
• Vintage clothing and accessories
• Antiques and collectibles
• One-of-a-kind treasures and curiosities
• Food vendors and community gathering spaces
Set against the backdrop of Mare Island’s historic waterfront, the Bazaar is designed to create connections between artists, collectors, entrepreneurs, and community members while supporting local creative economies.
More than a market, the Bazaar is an opportunity to shop local, explore artist studios, discover unique finds, meet makers, and experience the creative energy that continues to make Vallejo one of the Bay Area’s most vibrant arts communities.
We hope this inaugural Bazaar becomes the first of many and grows into a recurring destination for art, fashion, vintage culture, and community connection on Mare Island.
