Carl Theodorski invites you into a retrospective exploration of his lifelong engagement with form, meaning, and the ineffable experience of art. Rooted in the philosophies of abstract expressionism—though not confined by its techniques—Carl’s work isolates the art object as a point of contemplation and interplay. For him, content arises through the process, shaped by both artist and viewer.
This exhibit traces decades of work where each object stands alone, displaying the results of Carl’s persistent engagement with the materials, the tools, and the elusive nature of meaning. He invites the viewer not simply to observe, but to “read” the piece, completing the aesthetic conversation.
Featured works include “The Jesuit Astrophysicist” (circa 1995) and “Swipe – 1681 G St.” (2024), reflecting the evolution of an artist who sees radiance in the moment a viewer says yes to a work of art.
